Things I Don't Understand: Wind Chimes

So I guess you think to yourself, "Hey, Self, you don't have enough random needless noise. Here just take these pipes and a rock and then hang them on some twine and the wind will do all the pipe banging you could need, and MORE!"
Then you think back to yourself, "Thanks, Self. You're the smartest person ever, now lets go see if we can tip a Coke machine on ourself."
"Hooray!"

Hmmm. I was seriously considering gifting you with a wind chime for your new digs. And speaking of new digs, how did the move go? Did you find any new Qs while opening the boxes?

my guess is that some person long ago probably needed to know if it was windy outside without having to go outside to check... so they invented the wind chime, so their lazy ass could sit inside and listen to how windy it was.

Sheer brilliance. I had not considered that.

Still annoying tho.
